Visitor Visa / Tourist Visa
Visitor visa is a document that acts as an entry gate for the visitors to Canada. The visitors can stay in Canada for 6 months on a visitor visa before the date stamped on the passport by the immigration officials. The visitors must return to the home country but if no date is stamped on the passport, the visitor can stay a longer until his passport expires as per the rules to apply for a visitor visa.
Eligibility criteria
- The applicant must have a valid passport.
- Have good health.
- Free of any criminal charges.
- Free of any immigration related convictions
- He must be capable of convincing the Immigration officer that he will return to his home country after his visa expires.
- He must have sufficient funds for the whole stay (alone or with family depending on who are applying for the visitor visa ).
Additional documents required
- A medical test.
- 'Letter of invitation’ from an acquaintance living in Canada.
- The applicant must not be involved in any Human Rights violations.
- He must not be involved in any organized crime.
Visitor record
Visitor record is a document that allows you to stay in Canada for a longer period. It is not a visa but a document that mentions a new date of leaving the Canada. The visitor record needs to be applied before the visitor visa expires. The ones who wish to change their permit type from study permit or work permit also needs to apply for a “visitor record” to extend their stay at least 30 days before the current status of permit expires.
- You need photocopies of all the required documents, Passport size photos, and a valid debit or credit card.
- You need to prepare for the personalized questions like “What would you like to do in Canada” or “How long you are planning to visit Canada”.
- You need to sign-in into the account, fill the application form, attach the documents, pay fees and submit application.
- After submission, you can check the status of the application.
